FAQ.

At Shelburne Centre For Health, we understand that patients may have questions about their health and our services. Below are some of the most common questions we receive. If you have a question that is not listed here, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

  • Are patients seen via booked appointments or walk-in?
The Shelburne Centre for Health is NOT a walk-in clinic; registered patients make appointments in order to visit. If you are NOT registered with us and need immediate service we would suggest a walk-in clinic. If you are a patient at SCFH and require immediate service, please call the clinic directly 519 925-0017 to be triaged and booked accordingly. We hope the following list is helpful. Patients should contact the desired location directly to confirm accuracy of this list and clinic hours. Emergency Departments Headwaters Health Care Centre 100 Rolling Hills Drive, Orangeville 519-941-2410 Markdale Hospital 220 Toronto St S, Markdale. 519 986-3040 Groves Memorial Community Hospital 141 Frederick Campbell Street, Fergus 519-843-2010 Guelph General Hospital 115 Delhi Street, Guelph 519-822-5350
  • Does Shelburne Centre For accept new patients who do not currently have a doctor, and how can I find out if they have availability?
Shelburne Centre For Health is dedicated to providing empathetic care and a caring atmosphere to all patients. To find out if our clinic has availability for new patients, we recommend checking our website for updates on when a physician becomes available as we are currently not accepting any new patients. We understand the importance of having access to quality healthcare, and we strive to ensure that all patients feel heard, supported, and cared for at Shelburne Centre For Health. For assistance in locating another physician, you may wish to call Health Care Connect, a Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care program which helps Ontarian's without a family health care provider find one. To register for the Health Care Connect program, call 1-800-445-1822 or visit the Health Care Connect website to register. Other options include contacting your local hospital to see whether any physicians on staff are accepting new patients, or your Community Health Centre, an organization that provides primary health care and prevention programs through physicians and a variety of other health professionals. A list of community health centres in Ontario is available on the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care website. Lastly, some physicians, including those who are new to an area or who are beginning to establish a practice, will advertise in the local newspaper that they are accepting new patients.
  • Does Shelburne Centre For offer telehealth services?
Yes, Shelburne Centre For offers telehealth services to our patients. We understand that visiting the clinic in person may not always be possible or convenient, especially during the current Provincial health crisis. That's why we are committed to providing our patients with the option of receiving virtual healthcare services. Our telehealth services allow patients to access medical care from the comfort and safety of their own homes, without having to travel to the clinic. Please understand that not all medical concerns are amenable to a virtual visit, especially when a physical examination is deemed necessary. In these cases, an in person appointment must be booked..
  • Does Shelburne Centre for Health offer online booking of appointments
The team at Shelburne Centre for Health has implemented online bookings for a large number of appointment types. This new feature will allow for greater convenience and accessibility for our patients, as they will be able to book appointments from the comfort of their own homes, at any time of day or night. We understand that people lead busy lives, and we want to make healthcare as easy and stress-free as possible. In the meantime, appointments can still be booked over the phone or in person at our clinic. We appreciate your patience as we work to implement this new technology.
